I am who I am, that's all I can be

I am who I am, that’s all I can be

My flaws and my strengths, I carry with me

Authentic and raw, my heart unbound

I am grateful, for the courage I’ve found

I am who I am, a sensitive soul

It’s hard to stay open, vulnerable and whole

In a world that does not abide

By kindness and love, I will no longer hide

I am who I am, I wear my heart on a string

Is it so wrong to hope and to sing?

To long for connection, to long for joy

In a world that ignores, and uses hearts like a toy

I am who I am, my emotions run wild

They fuel my desire, my purpose, my smile

They do not deserve to be locked away

Hidden and protected, in fear and dismay

I am who I am, that’s all I can be

My flaws and my strengths are a part of me

I am who I am, that’s all I can be

My heart, my soul, my spirit is free;
